What It Is
Stainless steel letters are the specification-grade version of the metal letter: #304 grade for general use, #316 where salt air or chemicals demand it, faces brushed or mirror-polished, and returns welded and finished so the letter reads as one machined object. This is the letter that goes on banks, clinics, hotels and headquarters.
The stainless range shares the letter family's platform: laser cutting, polishing, painting where specified and assembly, 10–180 mm return depths, waterproof LED modules where the letter is lit, and the Mean Well transformer at DC 12V. Listed warranty for stainless elements is 5 years. Unlit stainless letters are also a major part of the range — for stone and concrete facades, an unlit brushed-steel name is often the entire brief.
Materials and Build
Letters are fabricated, not printed: faces are cut by laser from stainless steel (#304 or #316) or acrylic — with 3, 5 and 8 mm acrylic options listed — returns are formed to depths between 10 and 180 mm, and the finish is polished, painted or left as brushed metal. Inside sit waterproof LED modules powered through a Mean Well transformer at a safe DC 12V. 304 or 316?
Grade 304 covers the overwhelming majority of buildings, inland and urban. Grade 316 adds molybdenum for chloride resistance — choose it for seafront properties, pool and spa environments, food-processing and chemical sites, and anywhere the maintenance team has watched lesser steel tea-stain. The price difference is modest at letter scale and the proof/quote stage will price both if your position is borderline.
For lit stainless letters, the light path is almost always behind (halo) or through an acrylic face insert; a solid steel face cannot glow, and buyers picturing a glowing steel letter are usually picturing the frontlit construction with a steel shell — which the frontlit page covers.
